There’s no need to revise or rehearse — the most helpful
thing you can do is answer honestly, in your own words. Complete your pre-assessment questionnaires when you can, find a quiet private space for your online appointment, and jot down anything you particularly want to mention. If you’re nervous, tell your clinician — that’s completely normal, and they’ll go at your pace.
Your report belongs to you. We share it only with you [and, for young people, with parents/guardians as agreed], and with your GP or others only with your consent.

No — you can refer yourself, or your child, directly to us.
We aim to offer your appointment within 72 hours of enquiry.
Talking to your child about the assessment. Keep it honest and low-pressure. Many families find it helps to describe the assessment as “a chance to understand how you think and what helps you” — not a test, and not something to pass or fail. Reassure them that it’s simply a conversation with a friendly nurse, done from home.
Before the appointment. We’ll send questionnaires for you to complete as parents, and one for your child’s school — teachers see a side of your child that home doesn’t, and their input makes the assessment stronger. Your nurse reads everything before the appointment, so nothing rests on your child having a “good day” on the day.
On the day. The appointment takes around two hours, online. Choose a quiet, comfortable space, and let your child settle in however helps — a drink, a fidget toy, a favourite jumper are all fine. Your nurse will explain everything in plain language and go at your child’s pace.
Afterwards. Your written report arrives within 10 working days, followed by a feedback call to talk everything through — including what the findings mean day-to-day, and what support might help at home and school. With your consent, we send the report to your child’s school and GP.
